Sterling silver sheet and round wire were mill rolled and drawn by hand from ingot material, to fabricate this little box. An oval cabochon, cut from high grade Blue Gem mine turquoise, graces the lid.
Fabrication with solder was utilized for all assembly. Each piece, forming the box bottom and perfectly fitting lid was precisely cut. Hand-made stamps were used to create desired decoration on the box top and four bottom side panels. A fine sheet bezel was then soldered to the lid, as were hinge straps at the back.
Round wire loops were brought through those straps, then fused to the box bottom. A small button snap was created with a blunted punch stamp. It is repeated on both the bottom and lid front panels, to perfectly align---creating a nesting pressure closure when overlapped.
